“You captured our little boy 12 years ago. Now we have a baby girl, can we recreate that same photo?”
Twelve years later, they returned in crisp white outfits, their son a lanky teen beside them, and baby girl snug in Mum’s arms. That simple request “same studio, same vibe” turned into an afternoon of laughter, sweet tears, and moments that bridged two generations in one living time capsule.
The reunion felt almost cinematic. Everyone arrived in crisp white outfits, just like last time, but the dynamic had shifted: their once-tiny son is now a budding teenager; Mum and Dad wear a little extra wisdom in their smiles; and baby sister slept peacefully in her carrier, unaware she’d already joined the family legend.
White was a brilliant choice, simple, timeless, and perfect for letting personalities shine. More importantly, it tied the old and new photos together without shouting, “We’re trying to copy 2013!”
We pulled up their 2013 gallery and sketched out the exact same poses for today’s session, the only thing that’s changed is the backdrop. Twelve years ago it was our old setup; now it’s our refreshed studio. Everything else, from Dad’s seated pose to Mum’s embrace, stayed true to the original.
We planned seven simple setups so no one felt rushed:
1. Couple Portrait – A quiet moment for Mum and Dad, showing the bond that started it all.
2. Mum & Son – Re-creating that iconic shoulder-ride pose.
3. Mum & Daughter – Mum cradling the baby girl, echoing the first-born’s pose from 2013.
4. Dad & Son – Tall teen next to Dad, same affectionate grin, but this time their shoulders are level.
5. Dad & Daughter – Tiny fingers wrapped around Dad’s thumb, a brand-new shot for the family album.
6. The Classic Family Portrait – Everyone in frame, heads touching, pure joy.
7. The Re-Creation – Dad cross-legged again, Mum beside him, big brother behind, baby girl taking center stage.
Each click felt like stitching two eras together. No fancy tricks, just genuine smiles, easy conversation, and a lot of “Remember when…?”
Photographs mark growth in a way yearly height charts can’t. Putting a 2013 frame beside a 2025 one lets you see love stretching over time, wrinkles, taller kids, new additions, and all. The family left promising to return long before another decade slips by (we’re holding them to it)
