It’s one of the most common questions we get at Imprint Studio and for good reason. Pregnancy is such a beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime journey, and capturing that glow (and bump!) at the right moment makes all the difference. Whether it’s your first baby or your third, knowing the perfect time to plan your shoot helps you feel confident, relaxed, and photo-ready.

In this blog, we’ll walk you through the best timing, tips, and everything you need to know to make your maternity shoot feel just right, without the stress.

When to Book Your Maternity Photoshoot

1. Scheduling Your Session: 28–34 Weeks Is the Sweet Spot

You want to be far enough along that your baby bump is clear and curvy, but not so late that you’re uncomfortable or anxious.

  • Weeks 28–34 are ideal!

  • You’ll have a visible bump and still feel relatively mobile.

  • You avoid the heat of Dubai’s summer months, when late pregnancy + sweltering sun = tired momma.

2. Lock in a Date at 25–27 Weeks

  • Book around 25–27 weeks, even if your shoot is at 30 weeks.

  • This gives you breathing room to choose outfits, decide on locations, and tweak timing.

  • Spots fill up fast, especially during peak “photo season.” Early booking = less stress.

The Best Time to Take Your Maternity Photoshoot: Morning or Evening

Golden Hour Glow: Just After Sunrise or Before Sunset

Natural light makes your photos dreamy.

  • Early mornings (about 1 hour after sunrise) = soft light, cooler temps, fewer people around.

  • Late afternoons (1–2 hours before sunset) = flattering warmth and long, elegant shadows.

Pro Tip: Avoid shooting in the midday sun, it’s bright, flat, and hot. That glare isn’t exactly bump-friendly.

Indoor vs Outdoor Maternity Photoshoot: Does Timing Change?

If you’re going for beach, desert, or park backgrounds, golden hour is key. Need to avoid crowds? Start early and plan ahead.

Indoor sessions let us control light and temperature, total comfort! You can book anytime during the week, but later in the second trimester is still best for curves and confidence.

Why Booking Early Makes Your Life Easier

1. Outfit Planning

  • You’ll know the shoot date early, which makes shopping for the perfect dress easier.

  • No last-minute panic about what’s in your closet.

2. Prep Time

  • Gives you space to plan hair, makeup, props, and location especially for themed shoots.

  • Reflect your personality: flowy dresses, floral crowns, baby props… all doable with a little prep.

3. Stress-Free Experience

  • With things locked in early, you can relax and stay present in the moment.

  • Final weeks before birth = less pressure, more anticipation.

What If You Can’t Shoot During 28–34 Weeks?

Life doesn’t always go according to plan, and that’s totally okay!

After 34 Weeks

– You’ll still look radiant, but movement might be trickier, and comfort is key.

– Shorter sessions or seated poses are lovely alternatives.

Before 28 Weeks

– Your bump may not be very round yet.

– But if it’s more about the experience than the shape, go for it! You can still capture your joy and excitement.

Imprint tip: We’ll guide your poses and setting to make sure the focus stays on you and the beauty of each moment, whenever you book.
