A super chill guide for families new to the camera life.
Scheduling your first family photoshoot in Dubai is an exciting step. Whether you’re capturing a milestone, updating your family portraits, or simply creating memories, a little preparation can help make the experience smooth, enjoyable, and truly memorable.
At Imprint Studio, we work with families and we know that great photos come from a mix of planning and letting real moments shine. Here’s our step-by-step guide to help you feel confident before your shoot.
1. Focus on Connection, Not Perfection
You don’t need to have everything “just right.” Some of the most meaningful photos happen in the in-between moments when your child laughs unexpectedly, or when you share a quiet glance with your partner.
Don’t stress about getting everyone to pose perfectly. Instead, focus on being present and enjoying the moment with your family. We’ll handle the rest.
2. Coordinate Your Outfits (But Don’t Match)
What you wear plays a big role in how your photos turn out. The goal is to coordinate, not match, and to reflect your family’s personality while keeping things clean and timeless.
A few styling tips:
– Choose soft, neutral tones like beige, white, soft blues, or pastels
– Avoid bold logos or busy patterns that can distract in photos
– Opt for lightweight, breathable fabrics, especially if your shoot is outdoors
– Dress comfortably to allow for movement, especially for young children
– Bring an extra outfit for kids in case of spills or messes
We’re happy to offer outfit guidance during your pre-shoot consultation!
3. Keep the Kids Comfortable and Involved
Children naturally bring energy and authenticity to a photoshoot. To help them feel their best:
– Make sure they’re well-fed and rested before the shoot
– Bring light snacks and water, especially for longer sessions
– Pack a favorite toy or small comfort item, it may even make a great prop
– Let them know it’s going to be fun, not something they need to “perform” for
When kids feel safe and engaged, the best photos happen naturally.
4. Bring the Essentials
Here’s a quick checklist of things to bring along for your family session:
– Backup outfits (especially for children)
– Water and easy, mess-free snacks
– Wet wipes or tissues
– Touch-up makeup or lip balm
– Any small personal props you want to include (books, toys, accessories)
We also recommend arriving a few minutes early so everyone has time to settle in before the shoot begins.
